Divine Vessels: Exploring Queer and Trans Spiritual Embodiment
About Gage Gorsky
Dr. Gage Gorsky (they/them) is a multidimensional being of light and chaos. They are a queer Mexican and Jewish knowledge seeker born and raised in Chicago. In 2013, Gage came to Seattle to do a lot more school and earned a PhD in Education in 2019. They currently do research on Jewish communal belonging and spiritual, cultural, and other aspects of identity. This work brings together many of their deep interests and has brought them closer to their own spiritual self.
Gage was brought into the OneHeart community in 2021 during a time of intense self exploration and major life transition. It has been a gift to stay close to all of these dear souls and is a great honor to share at Samadhi Summer.

About the Workshop
This interactive workshop will explore the role queer people play in spiritual traditions across cultures and time. Gage (they/them) will begin with a brief history lesson on queer, trans, and gender diverse people as spiritual leaders, but also as oppressed minorities. They will engage the group in a discussion of how this has and continues to be used to suppress the spiritual gifts of queer people and our potential to positively transform society in significant ways. If attendance numbers allow, Gage will conclude by splitting folks into affinity groups (ex. people who are trans/gender diverse, people who are queer in another way, and people who do not identify as queer). Each group will engage with questions that will help them explore their relationship with the ideas in the workshop and how they can nurture the queer divinity in themselves and others. No specific preparation is necessary to participate. Please come with an open mind and curiosity to learn. Respectful questions and comments are encouraged by all, but know that the voices of queer, trans, and gender diverse people, and/especially those who are BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color) will be prioritized and uplifted as much as possible. Blessed to see you there!
